<strong>Local cheer squads earn championships</strong>

A pair of competitive cheerleading teams from VIP Athletics in Franklin claimed first place in their respective age groups last weekend at the Jamfest Cheer Super Nationals in Indianapolis.

VIP’s EPIC team in the Junior D2 Small division (14 and under) not only won their division title but also earned a fully paid bid to the D2 Summit Championship in Orlando, Florida in May.

The Level 1 Minis squad, Glitz (8 and under), also won its division. Glitz had previously earned a paid bid to the U.S. finals.

<strong>Edinburgh hitting clinic set to begin</strong>

New Edinburgh varsity baseball coach Greg Mose will conduct a hitting camp for players in Grades 1 to 8. The camp will be in the hitting barn across the street from the high school gym today, Feb. 10, 18 and 24, as well as March 3 and 10.

Times for each age group are as follows: noon to 1 p.m. for Grades 1 and 2; 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. for Grades 3 and 4; 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. for Grades 5 and 6; and 4 to 5 p.m. for Grades 7 and 8.

Registration is $25 per player, which covers all six sessions and includes an official Edinburgh baseball T-shirt and shorts.

<strong>Franklin College to host volleyball camps</strong>

Franklin College will be conducting volleyball camps again this summer for middle school and high school players.

There will be a day camp for players in Grades 5 through 8 that runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily July 9 to 12. The cost for that camp is $160 for the four days with lunch included or $140 without.

The following week, there will be a high school team camp July 19 and 20. The cost is $135 per overnight camper or $75 for commuters.
