William Ed Ginn, 94, of Franklin, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
He was born May 2, 1916, in Fort Wayne, a son of the late Lester and Mabel Ginn.
Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Holmes-Ginn; a son, Jon Ginn of Safford, Ariz.; a daughter, Janice (husband Chris) Williams of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Ryan (wife Shauna), Kyle and Kevin Williams; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Lenore Laub Ginn.
Ed served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Purdue University in 1939 and competed his master’s degree at the University of Michigan. He worked for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources as the assistant director, retiring in 1979. He was a longtime member of and served as chairman of the board for the Franklin United Methodist Community and served as treasurer for the National Wildlife Federation.
He was a former member of Heather Hills Country Club. From 1998 to the present, he was a member of Timbergate Golf Club. Ed enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was known as a kind and gentle man and dearly loved his family.
The Rev. John Eley will conduct a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Franklin United Methodist Community, Wright Memorial Chapel, 1070 W. Jefferson St. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
