Richard “Dick” E. Weaver
Richard “Dick” E. Weaver, 67, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, in Shelbyville.
He was born May 27, 1946, in Shelbyville to Earl Lewis Weaver Jr. and Helen Mae (Burnes) Weaver.
He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1964.
He then married Rita A. King on Oct. 27, 1983.
He served in the National Guard.
He farmed for 12 years in Shelby and Rush counties. He was employed by the former Kiel Brothers Oil Co. in Columbus for 28 years and then Lewis Transport for four years as a driver and area representative.
He was a member of the Bengal Christian Church, where he served as a past deacon and trustee. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge No. 2118 and the American Legion Post No. 70.
He enjoyed camping and boating.
In recent times, he enjoyed spending time and having lunch with his Lunch Gang.
He is survived by his wife, Rita A. Weaver; his mother, Helen Mae (Burnes) Weaver; his children, Cassandra (Robin) Sommers of Austin, Texas; Cary Weaver and Christopher Weaver, both of Franklin, and Sarah Benefiel of Shelbyville; his grandchildren, Riley and Gillian Sommers, Jackson and Henry Weaver and Coty and Brenna Weaver; six nephews; four nieces; siblings, Robert E. (Kathy) Weaver of Shelbyville and Phyllis E. (Ronnie) Scott of Sullivan; and his dog, Maddy, his beloved companion.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Lewis Edwin Weaver.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S Harrison St., Shelbyville, with the Rev. Bryan Trotter officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens.
