Carol Norma (Emsweller) Ruby, 60, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Nineveh.
She was born Nov. 4, 1952, in Rushville to Leland Quentin Emsweller and Grace (Roberts) Emsweller.
She was employed as a residential adviser at Atterbury Job Corps Center, where she loved her students and showed it by listening to them, trying to understand their problems and encouraging them to stay strong in her unique ways.
Carol really loved her independence, and she could be an ornery cuss when she wanted to; she was as tough as nails.
She is survived by her two daughters, Brandi (Billy) Joya and Kelly (Reid) Hanson; her three brothers, Larry, Craig and Jeff Emsweller; four beloved grandchildren, Leland, Lowell, Terry and Lilly; and many friends.
Carol chose a private cremation and not to have a funeral.
Instead, she requested that everyone celebrate life and stop smoking because in her words, “Lung cancer sucks.”
