Jerry C. Martin, 80, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of New Whiteland.
Jerry was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Putnamville, to Raymond C. and Zelma C. (Covey) Martin.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, where he was a frogman and member of the Underwater Demolition Team.
He served with the Indiana State Police and later was safety director for the National Tea Co. for 22 years. He finished his career in security for Simon Properties.
Jerry was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with children and grandchildren. He was looking forward to the arrival of his first great-grandson, Shane, this coming October.
He was a man of many talents and hobbies. He loved learning new things, was a talented woodworker, was very computer savvy and even learned to ride a unicycle at age 50.
Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Martin of New Whiteland, three children, Debbie (Dan) Weber and Phil (Wendy McClellan) Martin, both of Greenwood, and Matt (Teresa) Martin of Whiteland; and three grandchildren, Tabitha Martin, Joshua (Jana) Martin and Christopher Weber.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charlie, Robert and Hollis Roy Martin; and a sister, Vivian Martin.
A private family graveside service was conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.
