Ruth Eleanor Harrington
Ruth Eleanor (Klein Lyons) Harrington, 93, of the Franklin United Methodist Community, passed away May 24, 2013.
Ruth Eleanor was born in Acton on April 21, 1920, to Carl W. and Mary Vivian (Bennett) Klein.
She married William T. Lyons on March 30, 1941. They had three daughters, Sue, Julia and Frances. Bill preceded Ruth in death. Ruth married Leonard H. “Bud” Harrington on July 2, 1971. He also preceded her in death.
Ruth worked at various jobs, including Shuron Continental, AARP and Cornerstone Pharmacy, until she was 87, when she moved to Franklin United Methodist Community.
She was a member of Acton Chapter No. 73 of Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years and a member of Rocklane Christian Church in Greenwood.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Sue (Buster) Asher of Needham, Julia (Spencer) Syverud-Francis of Nekoosa, Wis., and Fran (Mike) Dougherty of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Nancy (Robert) Dougherty of Shelbyville, John Asher of Greenwood, Richard (Ann) Syverud of Mazomanie, Wis., James (Heather) Syverud of Cottage Grove, Wis., and Karen (Mark) Fugate of Bedford; six great-grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Dougherty, Sierra Syverud, Liam Dwyer, and Will and Katie Upham; a niece, Marsha (Tom) Smudde of Snellville, Ga.; and a nephew, Michael (KC) Babb of St. Charles, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bill and Bud; a sister, Helen Babb; and a son-in-law, Donald Syverud.
A celebration of her life will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wright Chapel of the Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin, where the family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until service time Saturday.
Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center is handling arrangements.
