Elizabeth Ann Carson
Elizabeth Ann Carson, 92, of Indianapolis, passed peacefully at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin on Sunday, May 26, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Carson; and a brother, Robert Dickinson.
She was the loving mother of seven children, Carole (Ray) Sundman of Virginia, Chris Carson of Louisiana, Cathy (John) Custer of Columbus, Connie (Tim) McCurdy and Bert (Patty) Carson, both of Greenwood, Tressa (John) Fakiris of North Carolina and Beth (Doug) Waltz of Indianapolis. She was a grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth also is survived by a brother, William (Gail) Dickinson; and a sister, Shirley Young.
After raising seven children, Elizabeth worked as a secretary for the Indiana Lutheran Synod, served on the founding board of Westview Hospital and was president of Westview Hospital Guild. She was a pianist and treasurer of Tallwood Chapel for many years.
Elizabeth personified the best of her generation with her natural warmth, discipline and her determination to achieve the best possible in whatever she did guided by a strong ethical code. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
Elizabeth was an avid reader, wrote and published a poetry book, was an accomplished gardener and enjoyed embroidery.
A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Indiana Masonic Home, 690 State St., Franklin. Visitation will be from
1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the home. There will be a private family graveside following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Indiana Masonic Home, 690 S. State St., Franklin, IN 46131.
