William G. Douglas
William G. Douglas, age 81, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.
He was born on July 6, 1931, in Fairland, to James Frank and Bessie (Hatter) Douglas. He married Rosemary (Sosbe) Douglas on May 24, 1952. She preceded him in passing on Jan. 20, 2012.
Survivors include children, William Frank Douglas (Judy) of Yanceyville, North Carolina, Kathleen Hill (John) of Indianapolis; Martha Sparks (Rev. Don Sparks) of Morgantown and Mary Chastain (Louis) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jonathan Douglas (Melissa); Charity Gilbert (Wade); C.J. Lee (Jannie); Sam Goldsberry; Ryan Goldsberry (Mandy); Tim Goldsberry and Rachelle Hill; Joshua Sparks (Bekah); Daniel Sparks (Victoria); Tom Sparks and Angela Sparks; Roger Chastain (Jill) and Bobby Chastain (Samantha); nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha “Peg” Middleton of Florida and one sister-in-law, Helen Douglas of Beech Grove.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; wife, Rosemary; brother, James Douglas and a sister, Pearl Cook.
He attended Beech Grove schools and Tech High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
Bill worked for Banquet Milk in Indianapolis and later was employed with the Franklin Township Community School Corporation for several years.
He was a member of Franklin Pilgrim Holiness Church in Franklin. Bill enjoyed repairing antique clocks.
The Revs. Tim Forsee and Lonnie Dunn will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Franklin Pilgrim Holiness Church, 1000 E. Hospital Road., Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
