Jerry Dean Walker, 68, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born Oct. 2, 1944, in Whiteland, the son of Raymond Dale Walker and Thelma (Rhude) Hartsell. His mother survives in Franklin.

He also is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Jo (Dunn) Walker of Franklin.

Other survivors include two children, Mark Walker of Franklin and Annette (Jeremy) Snyder of Bargersville; three grandchildren, Ashley, Cody and Kierstin; a brother, Larry Walker of Indianapolis; father-in-law, Gordon (Dolores) Dunn of Franklin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his father, Raymond Dale Walker; his stepfather, Charles Hartsell; a brother, Bill Hartsell; mother-in-law, Alice (Davis) Dunn; and sister-in-law, Connie Walker.

Jerry was a 1962 graduate of Franklin Community High School and a 1967 graduate of Bradley University.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Jerry was employed for several years at Arvin Industries in Franklin. Later he worked at Pridgeon and Clay in Franklin.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a 39-year member of Franklin American Legion Post 205.

Jerry loved the outdoors, including fishing and mushroom hunting.

He was a devoted husband and father. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
