Mr. Raymond C. Bell, 96, of Greenwood, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at his home.
He was born April 8, 1916, in Liberty, Ky., a son of Claude Jasper and Mary Mattie (Wilson) Bell. He married Norma B. (Smith) Bell on April 6, 1940. She preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death are three brothers; six sisters; one granddaughter, Sherri Raye Wilkerson, and one great-great-granddaughter, Makenzi Raye.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth B. Andrews (Jerry) of Hartford, Wis., and Jackie R. Robbins (Earl) of Trafalgar; five grandchildren, Danita (Jay) Wigginton, Sue (Sherry Alden) Zufall, Heather (David) Abrams, Christopher (Amanda) Andrews and Bryan (Jennifer) Sosbe; 14 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Raymond was a service manager at East Side Gas Company for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed woodworking and was known as the neighborhood “Pappaw.”
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Greenwood. The Rev. Richard Bell will officiate.
