Glenda A. “Sissy” Marley, 73, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, surrounded by her family.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1939, in Loogootee, to the late Donald and Crystol Spaulding. She married Jack Marley on April 7, 1959. They settled in Indianapolis, where they raised their family before moving to Greenwood in 2006.
Mrs. Marley worked at Sears for 20 years before retiring.
She was a charter member of St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, formerly on the east side of Indianapolis; a former member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church; and most recently a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Glenda gave freely of her time to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul and Meals on Wheels.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, volunteering, reading, maintaining lifelong friendships and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her loving husband and best friend, Jack Marley; children, Kent (Sherri) Marley and Kirk (Cyndi) Marley, both of Greenwood, and Michelle (John) Malina of Columbus; grandchildren, Kristen, Sean and Nick Marley, John and Gabrielle Malina, and Conor and Ethan Marley; and sister Janice (Jerry) O’Neill of Greenfield, and their children, Pat O’Neill, Kathy Reger, Mike O’Neill and Ann O’Neill-Schlosser, and their families.
Mrs. Marley was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Marley; and a brother, Donald Anthony “Tony” Spaulding.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, 335 S. Meridian St., with Father John McCaslin officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wilson St. Pierre Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St.
