Roy Edward Brand, 65, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at his residence in Brown County.
He was born May 22, 1947, in Indianapolis, to the late Edward C. and Barbara (Hinton) Brand.
Roy served his country as a specialist 5 with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He married Beverly Jo (Leveque) Brand on July 19, 1969, in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2002, after 33 devoted years.
Roy was employed as a tool-and-die machinist with Clique Tool & Machine in Indianapolis for the past 40 years.
He loved the outdoors, bass fishing and deer hunting.
He was a member of the Hoosier Open and Hoosier Open Senior fishing clubs in Kokomo and was also a member of the Indian Creek Shooting Center in Georgetown.
Roy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and caring for his dog, Sammy, and was a fan of NASCAR.
Roy is survived by his three daughters, Tracy Lynn (Mike) Shirley of Morgantown, Wendy (Scott) Elkins of Franklin and Christy Jean (Jason) Lane of Nineveh. He will be remembered by his siblings, Susie Davis of Edinburgh, Denise (Dan) Boulay of Delaware, Dale Brand of Indianapolis, David (Bernice) Brand of Columbus and Eddie (Sara) Brand of Fortville; seven grandchildren, Kenneth, Amber and Eddie Patrick, Jeanie Brand, Hailey and Franklin Lane, and Brittany Elkins; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Gabby.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and one brother, Jeffrey Brand.
The Rev. Steve Agal will conduct a funeral service at 7 p.m. Monday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted at noon Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, with military rites presented by the Greenwood Honor Guard.
