Carroll F. Lee, 95, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was a resident of Edinburgh.
He was born Easter Sunday, April 8, 1917, in a part of rural Bartholomew County that is now Camp Atterbury. His parents were Charles and Myrta (Yates) Lee.
He attended school in a one-room grade school in the Atterbury area. He graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1935.
He retired from Cummins in 1980 after 37 years.
He enjoyed gardening, Civil War history, puzzles, euchre and golf. He often recited from memory long historical speeches and poems.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Edinburgh, a former member of the Holy Name Society and the CREAK Club, and a volunteer at Columbus Regional Hospital and Nineveh Senior Center.
He married Mariana Wright on July 3, 1950. She survives.
He also leaves two sons, John and David (Karin) Lee; two daughters, Catherine (George) Clift and Mary Sue McConnell, both of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Rex, Robert E. and Byron Lee.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 100 Keeley St. in Edinburgh, with Father John Beitans officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh. A prayer service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.
