Larry Earl Kirkman
Larry Earl Kirkman, 64, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Whiteland, passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, in Bay Pines, Fla.
He was born March 31, 1948, in Indianapolis to Clarence Kirkman and Flora Jane Williams, now deceased.
Larry was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He served two tours in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart among many other medals.
He previously was employed by Indiana Desco/F.E. Gates Co. and formerly owned and operated Kirk’s Auto Sales in Whiteland.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 34 years, Rita Ann Kirkman of Cape Coral, Fla.; three children, Lisa V. Platfoot and her husband, Michael, of Franklin, Natalie F. Welch of Whiteland and Russell W. Kirkman and his wife, Dianne, of Greenwood; a sister, Judi Bautista and her husband, Gil, of Naples, Fla.; three brothers, Clarence L. Kirkman, and his wife, Rosetta, of Indianapolis, Frank Kirkman and his wife, Theresa, of Lebanon and Morris Ridenour and his wife, Becky, of New Palestine; and six loving grandchildren, Brandi Kirkman, Bryce Platfoot, Charlie Welch, Sadie Welch, Austin Kirkman and Thomas Kirkman.
In Florida, Larry will be laid to rest in Naples with full military honors. In Indiana, memorial services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Nov. 11 at Vineyard Community Church, 512 S. Madison Ave., Greenwood. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the hour of service Nov. 11 at the church.
