Greg E. Wertz, 57, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012.
He was born Dec. 23, 1954, in Beech Grove to Kenneth W. and Rose K. (Garofalo) Wertz.
He graduated from Eastern Hancock Jr./Sr. High School and from Indiana State University.
Greg was the chief financial officer of Shelby Gravel Inc. and owned Wertz Accounting Corp. in Shelbyville.
He was a past member of St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus No. 822. He had served on Shelbyville board of works and was a past president of both Shelby County United Fund and Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Dye’s Walk Country Club in Greenwood.
Greg is survived by his wife, Carmen (Darroca) Wertz; two children, Nicholas (Beth) Wertz of Shelbyville and Gina Wertz of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a brother, Vincent (Stacy) Wertz; two sisters, Maureen and Barbara Wertz; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. A memorial Mass will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 126 W. Georgia St., Indianapolis.
