Robert Lee Perry, 73 of Columbus, died at 9:05 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, in Columbus Regional Hospital.

Born Oct. 30, 1938, in Columbus, he was the son of William E. and Martha F. Fawcett Perry. He married Doris Thompson on May 24, 1957, in Jonesville; and she survives.

Bob graduated from Columbus High School in 1956. He retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1987 after 30 years of service.

He was a life member of Moose Lodge 398, where he had served as governor, administrator and district vice president. He was a longtime member of the Edinburgh Lodge 100 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, and Murat Shrine and was a past patron of the Edinburgh Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star.

Bob is survived by his wife, Doris Perry of Columbus; a daughter, Nina (Ted) Piatt of Chapel Hill, N.C.; two sons, Bobby L. Perry and Timothy L. Perry, both of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexander Piatt, and Brandon, Nikkia, Anna Marie, Robert and Katylyn Perry; two great-grandchildren, Jaiden Means and Braylyn Fisher; two stepgrandchildren, Sean and Abby Rose Duckworth; two brothers, Keith (Jackie) Perry of Columbus and Roger (Brenda) Perry of Shelbyville; and his faithful friend, Lucy.

His parents; two sisters, Lorene Kay Nielsen and Patricia Weaver; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Perry, preceded Robert in death.

A celebration of life service for Bob will be at 6 p.m. today at Hathaway-Myers Chapel, 1022 Pearl St., Columbus, with Greg Walters presiding. A Moose memorial service will follow. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation is planned, with inurnment at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.

In lieu of flowers, Bob had requested memorials be sent to Mooseheart in care of the funeral home.
