Valeria Raasch, 93, of Wausau, Wis., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012.
Her beautiful smile and sweet spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Valeria was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Radlow, Poland. At age 4, she accompanied her parents, Paul and Catherine Shepanik, to America. She grew up in Mosinee, Wis., and graduated from Mosinee High School in 1937.
In 1944, she married Henry A. Raasch. During their 61 years of marriage, they resided in Wausau. They enjoyed 20 years of RV travels to warmer climates in the winter after she retired from 29 Super Market bakery.
Valeria leaves four children, two sons, William (Deidre) Raasch of Hazelhurst, Wis., and Daniel (Ann) Raasch of Layton, Utah, and two daughters, Diane (Richard) Huber of Greenwood and Mary (Roger Daleiden) Brown of Madison, Wis. Valeria also is survived by one sister, Jane (Douglas) Krueger of Wausau; and one sister-in-law, Marlys Shepanik of Schofield, Wis. She was grandmother to nine and great-grandmother to 16.
Valeria was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; infant son, Joel; and two brothers, Joseph and Louis Shepanik.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 1104 S. Ninth Ave., in Wausau. The Rev. James Schaefer will preside. Burial will be at Mosinee Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau, and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. There will be a rosary service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
