Mr. and Mrs. George Hayes of Franklin celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a family celebration dinner recently.
Mr. Hayes and his wife, the former Maxine Stafford, were married Jan. 17, 1942, in Rockville.
He is retired as a superintendent of Decatur County Community Schools in Greensburg.
She is retired as a registered nurse.
The couple have two children, Stephen Hayes and Linda Vertrees; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
