Girls tennis

Trojans blank Floyd Central

No. 3-ranked Center Grove breezed past Floyd Central, 5-0, on Saturday, dropping just 12 games across five matches.

Katelyn Gray, Maddie Weeks and Jillian Garrett swept the singles points in straight sets. Isabella Shcoolcraft teamed with Ellie Strube at No. 1 doubles, while Carleigh Hardin and Emily Hoy were victorious at No. 2.

Women’s golf places fifth

The Franklin women’s golf team took fifth place at the Transylvania Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Hannah Sharkey led the Grizzlies with a score of 100.

Track teams competing in HCAC meet

Franklin’s men and women will wrap up competition at the HCAC outdoor championships at home on Wednesday after rain cut the meet short of Saturday at Anderson.

With the javelin and 10,000-meter run still to be completed, the Grizzlies are sixth in the men’s standings and ninth among the women. Reed Sauter has Franklin’s top performance thus far with a second-place showing in the men’s 800-meter run.
