30-mile high speed police chase ends in Whiteland

A Missouri woman was arrested after she led Indiana State Police on a 30-mile chase that ended in Whiteland.

A state trooper was driving south on Interstate 65 near 71st Street in Indianapolis at 9 a.m. Sunday when he saw a car, driven by Shawna Lynn Stacy, 44, pass a car on the shoulder of the interstate and drive more than 100 mph, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.

The car also was registered as stolen, the release said.

The trooper tried to stop the vehicle, but Stacy refused to stop and led the officer on a chase south on I-65 for more than 30 miles that ended when a Whiteland police officer put stop sticks on the interstate, which caused the woman to hit a guardrail and stop, the release said.

She refused to give police her name and was taken to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment.

Stacy was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, refusal to identify and reckless driving, the release said.
