I-69 work continues in Johnson, Marion, Morgan counties

The Interstate 69 project is progressing in Johnson, Marion and Morgan counties.

Here are a few updates relevant to Johnson County motorists:

Banta Road north of State Road 37 is expected to reopen this week, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation newsletter;

Motorists should watch for overnight closures of Mullinix Road this week. Pipe installation work is expected in the area each day, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.;

Traffic will shift soon on State Road 252 and Ohio Street in Martinsville. Traffic near State Road 37 is expected to shift later this week. The new patterns will facilitate I-69 bridge construction over Ohio Street, and the State Road 252 roundabouts;

Truck traffic is expected to increase this week in both Johnson and Morgan counties;

Two significant and extended closures are scheduled to start July 19 at the Keystone Avenue and Mooresville Road Bypass bridges over I-465 in Indianapolis. Both bridges will be fully reconstructed during the closures.

The Keystone Avenue bridge is expected to be closed up to 120 days, while the Mooresville Road Bypass bridge will be closed up to 90 days, INDOT says.

To get around the Keystone Avenue closure, drivers should use the Madison Avenue bridge. From the north, motorists should use East Hanna Avenue and Shelby Street to reach the Madison Avenue bridge. From the south, drivers should use Thompson Road to reach Madison Avenue.

To get around the Mooresville Road Bypass closure, motorists should use the Mann Road bridge. Drivers should use Kentucky Avenue or Thompson Road to reach Mann Road.
