Grizzly Cubs tackle Plainfield

Izzy Harrison pitched a one-hitter and struck out 14 to lead Franklin to a 4-1 win over Plainfield. Morgan Carter was 3 for 4 with two runs scored for the Grizzly Cubs (2-1, 1-1 Mid-State), while Lexi Couch and Corin Dammeier each had two hits and an RBI.

Trojans blank Warriors

Drue Young struck out nine over six shutout innings to help Class 4A No. 5 Center Grove to a 6-0 home win over Warren Central on Wednesday. Mitchell Evans was 2 for 3 with a triple and two runs scored, while Garrison Barile doubled and knocked in a run for the Trojans (4-1, 1-0 MIC).

Grizzly Cubs dominate Quakers

Max Clark and Jackson Henry combined on a one-hitter as Franklin rolled to a 7-1 victory over visiting Plainfield. Henry also had a pair of hits for the Grizzly Cubs (3-2, 1-0 Mid-State), who took advantage of eight walks and three Quaker errors.

Girls tennis

Warriors shut out Dragons

Sarah Scott, Brooke Boehnlein and Sara Ullrich swept the singles points in Whiteland’s 5-0 win at New Palestine on Wednesday. The Warriors (1-0) also got wins at first doubles from Molly Brosnan and Natelie Cloer and at second doubles from Kaylee Hoagland and Lauren Trimble.

Woodmen defeat Warriors

Led by a 34 from medalist Jackson Watkins, Greenwood posted a 167-200 victory over Whiteland at Hillview. Eli Poe added a 41 for the Woodmen.

Boys volleyball

Royals sweep Guerin

Sean Haberthy had 11 kills and five blocks to lead Roncalli to a 25-14, 25-18, 25-21 sweep of Guerin Catholic. The Royals also got eight kills from Ryan Shanahan and nine digs from Luke Eiland.
