Men’s soccer rallies for OT triumph

Dany Escamilla cashed in on a penalty kick late in regulation and Angel Tapia followed up with the game-winning goal in overtime as Franklin College scored a 2-1 comeback victory at Earlham on Saturday. Elliott Clark made nine saves for the Grizzlies (1-5).

Women’s soccer scores road win

After peppering the Earlham goal for more than 90 minutes, Franklin College finally broke a scoreless deadlock when Elaina Page’s golden goal in the 98th minute led to a 1-0 overtime victory at Earlham. The Grizzlies (2-2) finished with a 20-0 advantage in total shots, putting 11 of those on frame.

Baseball hammers Lions in sweep

Franklin College dominated a doubleheader at Mount St. Joseph, posting lopsided 13-2 and 14-3 wins. Nick Wright had three doubles, a home run, five runs scored and six batted in for the Grizzlies (5-3). Logan Demkovich and Quenton Wellington each collected five hits on the day, with Demkovich adding a home run.

Track and field makes outdoor debut

Franklin College’s men and women both finished fifth at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird, the first outdoor meet on the spring schedule. A pair of local natives picked up individual wins for the women, with Janae Johnson (Greenwood) taking the 400 hurdles and Hunter Fields (Indian Creek) claiming the hammer throw.

Tennis teams split at home

Franklin College split its home matches against Kaskakia, with the men claiming a 6-3 win and the women suffering a narrow 5-4 defeat.
