A White River Township preschool was evacuated safely after a fire engulfed the school’s storage barn.
At about 8:40 a.m. Monday, the White River Township Fire Department responded to a structure fire behind Children’s Cottage Academy, 3366 Fairview Road, Greenwood.
An equipment storage barn located about 100 feet from the school was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, said Lt. David Schold. The preschool was evacuated to nearby North Grove Elementary, and no one was injured, he said.
The fire was out within 40 minutes, and the damage to the building was a total loss, Schold said.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Monday afternoon.
