Clark-Pleasant names new police chief

Clark-Pleasant schools approved the contract of its next police chief during a school board meeting Tuesday.

Tim O’Sullivan, who served as chief of the Clark-Pleasant Police Department from its founding last year to his resignation in November, was succeeded by interim chief Bruce Campbell. Chad Pryce, who will replace Campbell Jan. 11, worked for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, or IMPD, for more than a decade, according to the department’s website.

Pryce will make $85,000 annually, and his contract will be up for review each year, said Jay Staley, Clark-Pleasant’s business director.

Pryce most recently worked as a part of IMPD’s Mounted Patrol, which he joined in April 2016, according to the website.

Now, he will head a school district police department that will begin using body cameras the same month he takes the helm. The Clark-Pleasant school board approved use of the cameras during its November meeting.

“We want be open and honest with everybody, especially involving children at the schools and incidents,” Campbell said in November. “We have very good video surveillance, but this adds additional audio and video and allows us to be open and honest with everyone on our actions. More than getting an officer into trouble, it will support how officers do their job.”
