Warriors sweep three-way

Whiteland dominated its home meet against Decatur Central and Martinsville on Tuesday. The girls defeated the Hawks 123-45 and the Artesians 109-57, while the boys beat those teams by respective margins of 88-61 and 89-51.

Scoring wins for the Warrior girls were Addison Daily (200 freestyle, 100 butterfly), Avery Herring (200 IM, 500 free), Amelia Edens (50 free), Olivia Boehnlein (diving) and Kennedy Garrett (100 backstroke). The boys were led by individual victories from Braeden Campbell (200 and 500 freestyle), Cyler Nelis (50 free, 100 breaststroke) and Sam Udrasols (backstroke).

Trojans rout Falcons

Center Grove swept Perry Meridian, with the boys claiming a 132-50 victory and the girls winning by a 148-35 margin.

The Trojan boys were led by wins from Harrison Hite (200 free, 100 backstroke), Logan Kelsheimer (200 IM, 100 free), Garrett Crist (500 free, 100 breaststroke), Jonah Brandon (50 free) and Aidan Lyness (100 butterfly). For the girls, Jessica Holland was first in the 50 free and the 100 fly while Kiersten Smith (200 free), Lara Phipps (200 IM), Grace Clarkston (100 free), Kayla Fischer (500 free) and Devin Trammell (100 breaststroke) also won.

Grizzly Cubs roll on road

Franklin swept host Shelbyville, with the boys winning by a 137-45 spread and the girls earning a 128-54 triumph.

Getting individual wins for the boys were Callum Buchanan (100 and 200 freestyle), Anthony Ries (200 IM, 100 back), Nicholas Coy (50 free, 100 breast), Drake Keller (diving) and Franco Chirinos (500 free). For the girls, Allie Lacy (100 and 200 free), Paige Lawrence (IM, breaststroke), Camryn Quiggins (diving), Jaynie Salyers (100 fly), Jenna Newton (500 free) and Jyllian Antle (100 back) all finished first.

Lancers storm past Twisters

Edinburgh pulled away in the second and third quarters to cruise to a 45-33 victory over Oldenburg Academy on Tuesday. Annelise Lollar paced the Lancers (2-2) with 19 points, including a 13-of-14 effort at the foul line. Gracie Crawhorn chipped in nine points.

Grizzly Cubs fall at Perry

A shorthanded Franklin team lost at Perry Meridian on Tuesday, 47-21. Jacob Johnson won by pin, Jalen Ward had a technical fall and Jake Bechert earned a major win for the Grizzly Cubs, who also got victories from Dayson Lashlee and Tyler Fuqua.

Nolen Racing fills seat for 2021

Tanner Swanson will drive a Nolen Racing asphalt sprint car in selected events in 2021, including the Little 500, team owner Greg Nolen announced on Tuesday. Tanner fills the seat vacated by his younger brother Kody Swanson.

Dirt track coming to Indy next year

Kevin Garrigus, owner of the Indianapolis Speedrome, announced Tuesday that the Circle City Raceway, located at the eastside intersection of I-465 and I-74, will bring dirt track racing back to the area beginning in 2021.

There will be a 75-foot-wide, mildly-banked quarter-mile main track with a smaller one to be installed inside. Garrigus and Speedrome track president Jonathan Byrd are collaborating on the project. Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions is set to come to the track May 20 and 21; several other events have been scheduled.
