Dave and Buster’s to open Greenwood location today

Dave and Buster’s opened today in Greenwood, marking the company’s second location in Indiana.

The national restaurant and entertainment chain announced early this year it planned to open a new location in May at the Greenwood Park Mall. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic pushed back the grand opening for months.

Dave and Buster’s 34,500-square-foot restaurant and event space at the Greenwood mall offers the "latest and greatest" arcade games, a chef-crafted menu, multiple drink offerings and sports viewing at the "D&B Sports Bar," with dozens of high-definition TVs, according to news release from the company.

With the grand opening come several safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Customers are required to wear masks, unless eating or drinking, and maintain social distancing. Staff members will wear masks too, and temperature checks are required for all employees upon entry, the news release said.

Staff will disinfect tables, which are placed six feet apart, and all high-touch surfaces, including games at the Midway, according to safety procedures listed in its website. Hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout the building for customer use.

“We’re excited to open our second store in Indiana but keeping mindful of our customers and employees’ wellbeing,” said Richard Davis, the Greenwood location’s general manager, in a statement. “Our top priority is the safety of our customers and employees and we’re strengthening our preventive measures to keep everyone safe.”

This is the second Dave and Buster’s location in Indiana, the first being in Castleton on the north side of Indianapolis.

Dave and Buster’s is known for its games, and the Greenwood Park Mall location will be stocked with new and classic games. One of the highlighted games is the multi-player virtual reality attraction, featuring experiences themed after blockbuster movies such as "Jurassic World," "Star Trek," "Men in Black" and "Terminator," according to the news release.

The restaurant also offers discounts on food and gameplay to members of the armed forces as well as first responders and health care workers who are on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic, the news release said.
