Letter: Thank you, county leaders, for protecting Second Amendment

To the editor:

I have just finished my morning ritual, devouring the Daily Journal, and I was duly impressed reading the thoughts and actions of our elected sheriff, Duane Burgess, and the Johnson County Board of Commissioners.

These worthies have joined countless sheriffs who have pledged to stand by their sacred oath to "uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic," thus making their county one of the safest in America. This action is in stark contrast to policies taken by many blue-state mayors and governors, such as the mayors of Minneapolis, Chicago, New York, Portland and Seattle, to name a few.

Their actions have been applauded by "Blue" governors and the results are readily seen on cable news. The Democrat party has taken leave of their senses, and have placed the very existence of America in jeopardy. We in Johnson County can thank God for such courageous personages as mentioned above. The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution stands in defense of all the others, and it appears it will be the final arbitrator.
