Two arrested for living in house that did not belong to them

A man and a woman were arrested after they were found living in a home that was not theirs, the man claiming he was a sovereign citizen.

Jarrell R. Anderson, 29, 2807 Avebury Way, Brownsburg, was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing and presenting false information. Jakobia Runye Anderson, 28, 7775 Maureen Ter, Indianapolis, was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing, resisting law enforcement and not presenting identification.

The owner of an out-of-state property group told Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies she was trying to close a sale on a house in the 100 block of Little Ben Lane in Greenwood, but there were several people living there who were not supposed to be, according to a report for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. She said the previous owner had died, and the bank owned the property, but people were living there.

Anderson, who was living at the house, had filed a lawsuit saying the new buyers of the home could not close on the house because he was a sovereign citizen, the report said.

Deputies went to the residence and spoke to to Jarrell Anderson, who said they could not force him to leave the house, according to the report. When he refused to let officers inside, he was arrested. He identified himself under a different name to deputies at the house, to which they later learned he had used several fake names in the past, the report said.

Jakobia Anderson also refused to leave the home, saying she was scared of police with guns, according to the report. The deputies forced entry and arrested her.

Three children were also inside the home, and the Department of Child Services was contacted. All three children were reconnected with their parents, the report said. Johnson County Animal Control picked up two dogs at the house, the report said.

Both were taken to the Johnson County jail. Jarrell Anderson was released on $2,000 bond, and Jakobia Anderson was released on $3,000 bond.Â
