SCIENCE ON SCREEN, “Amazing Grace,” 2 p.m. Saturday, the Historic Artcraft Theatre, 57 N. Main St., Franklin. $4-$6.

Take in an incredible documentary and learn about the life of singer Aretha Franklin at the same time during this special presentation, the first Science on Screen program at the Artcraft this year.

This initial selection is “Amazing Grace,” a documentary performance featuring Franklin and a choir at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles, in 1972. Prior to the screening, Mellonee V. Burnim, ethnomusicologist and professor emerita at the department of folklore and ethnomusicology at Indiana University, will present on the life and work of Franklin.

"WORLDS OF STORIED EXPERIENCE," 7 p.m. Tuesday, Johnson Center for the Fine Arts, Franklin College campus, corner of Branigin Boulevard and Grizzly Drive.

Hear from artist Sarah Edmands Martin as she discusses her work during this lecture, which serves as a kick-off for her exhibition showing at the college through April 3.

Martin, a design artist and an assistant professor of graphic design at Indiana University in Bloomington, specializes in dark narratives and contemporary fable. As an assistant professor of graphic design, Martin uses her artistic work to experiment with eclectic media. The lecture is free and open to the public.
