Police: Greenwood man with learner’s permit drove 101 mph on SR 37

A Greenwood man was arrested after he led two police agencies on a car chase early Thursday up State Road 37.

Logan Taylor McGregor, 20, was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement and reckless driving after the incident which occurred just after midnight.

A Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy was driving south on State Road 37 and Bluff Acres Drive in Greenwood when a car sped past him. The car was going so fast, the deputy could not see the make and model of the vehicle. A police officer from Morgan County was chasing the vehicle, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The local sheriff’s deputy began chasing the car, too. The deputies stopped the vehicle after the driver drove east on State Road 144, the report said.

The driver was identified as McGregor. He had a learner’s permit.

At one point during the chase, he reached 101 mph in a 55 mph speed limit zone.

McGregor, 1631 Lacebark Drive, Apt. J., was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $2,400 bond.
