Daily Journal advertising team honored

A Daily Journal advertising designer has been named the state’s best.

Amanda Waltz earned the Indiana’s Top Advertising Designer award at the Hoosier State Press Association’s advertising awards event on Friday night at The Nest in Greenwood. The award was among 14 honors earned by the Daily Journal advertising team in the competition among all Indiana newspapers.

“We are very proud of the hard work and dedication that our advertising representatives, designers and special publications team put into the advertisements and content for our local businesses. Award-winning effective advertising layouts, along with quality content and readership, are the key to successful marketing and advertising,” said Chris Cosner, the Daily Journal’s advertising director.

The other awards earned by the Journal’s advertising sales representatives and designers are:

First-place awards:

  • Emilee Miller and staff in the Non-inserted Niche Publication category for Discover the Southside;
  • Dustin Brenton in the Best Digital Product category for a video for Franklin College Commencement 2018;
  • Chris Cosner and Amanda Waltz in the Special Event category for an advertisement for SOUTH Ladies Night Out;
  • Cindy Warren and Waltz in the Self Promotion category for an advertisement for Welcome Home.

Second-place awards:

  • Dasee Johnson and Waltz in the Personal Care category for an advertisement for Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery;
  • Christine Miller and Tina Ray in the Residential Service category for an advertisement for Beeson Mechanical;
  • Warren and staff in the Classified Advertising category for an advertisement for the Service Directory;
  • Warren and Julie Daiker in the Other Retail Advertising category for an advertisement for Jeff Atwood.

Third-place awards:

  • Paul Hoffman and staff in the Special Section Mini Tab or Smaller category for the Southside Neighborhood Cookbook;
  • Kelsey Hardman and staff in the Run of Paper Series or Campaign category for ads for Hi-Way Lanes;
  • Warren and Ray in the Churches and Nonprofits category for an advertisement for the Humane Society Dachshund Derby;
  • Erik Barber and Ray in the Automotive Services category for an advertisement for R&T Transmissions;
  • Trish Akers and Ray, in the Fashion category for an advertisement for Selective Seconds.
