Snyder makes impressive debut for Grizzlies

Freshman midfielder Garrett Snyder picked up his first two collegiate goals for Franklin College’s men’s soccer team in a 6-2 loss to Adrian (Michigan). Snyder had a goal in the first half and scored his second late in the match.

FRANKLIN

Marian junior Delanie Hill scored a goal in her team’s 4-0 defeat of Hope International in a match played in Fullerton, California.

Murray State sophomore outside hitter Rachel Kinney played in two of the three matches at the IUPUI Invitational. Kinney had four kills and 13 digs in a loss to the host Jaguars and five kills and six digs in a loss to South Dakota.

Freshman linebacker Clayton Coll made his debut for the Ball State football team with four tackles in the Cardinals’ 34-24 loss to Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Franklin College junior middle blocker Abby Sewell helped the Cubs win two of three matches at the Santa Cruz (California) Slugfest, totaling 16 kills and 31 digs. She added six kills and nine digs in helping the Grizzlies sweep Oakland City, 3-0, in Franklin’s home opener.

Butler senior Chandler McGaha finished 21st overall as the Bulldogs won their own cross country invitational. One place back was IUPUI redshirt freshman Josh Campbell.

CENTER GROVE

Louisville safety Russ Yeast had a team-high seven tackles in the Cardinals’ 35-17 loss to Notre Dame in the season opener for both teams.

Junior Parker Ferguson started at left tackle for Air Force in its 48-7 victory over Colgate.

Indiana State junior running back Titus McCoy carried the football 14 times for 88 yards in the Sycamores’ season-opening 24-17 loss at Kansas.

Stanford junior defensive tackle Jovan Swann had four tackles in his team’s 17-7 defeat of visiting Northwestern.

Indiana senior defensive tackle Gavin Everett had a tackle in the Hoosiers’ 34-24 win over Ball State at Lucas Oil Stadium. Teammate Nate Snyder handled kickoffs for the Hoosiers. Also credited with a tackle in the game was Ball State’s Trevor Hohlt.

Butler freshman offensive lineman Skyler Spetter saw action in the Bulldogs’ 57-10 loss to North Dakota State, a game played at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Franklin College golfer Jackson Williams tied for 19th place individually at the 16-team Transylvania Fall Invitational with a score of 73-76-75—224.

Senior setter Taylor Hamill had 49 assists and eight digs for Middle Tennessee State’s volleyball team in a loss to host St. Louis at the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic. Hammill added 20 assists and nine digs in the Mocs’ loss to Portland State.

Denver junior libero Macy Carrabine helped her team win all three matches at its invitational, producing 10 digs against San Francisco, 11 against Southern Mississippi and nine in the defeat of Seattle.

Freshman defensive specialist Santina Schembra contributed four digs to IU Southeast’s straight-set volleyball victory at Rose-Hulman. She supplied four digs to the team’s three-set win at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Duke freshman golfer Erica Shepherd was named preseason third team All-America by Golfweek magazine. The two-time USGA champion was also one of 25 players on the ANNIKA Award preseason watch list.

Taylor’s 4-3 victory over Bethel in women’s tennis included a victory by the No. 2 doubles team featuring Katelyn Gray. The junior also played No. 1 singles for the Trojans, but lost in three sets. Gray won her top singles match in the Trojans’ 6-1 win over Mt. Vernon Nazarene.

Valparaiso women’s tennis opened the season with a 7-0 shutout of Grace College. Sophomore Isabella Schoolcraft won her matches at No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles.

GREENWOOD

Roosevelt (Illinois) freshman volleyball player Alyssa Stilley had four blocks and a dig in a loss to Siena Heights (Michigan) and finished with eight kills in a four-set decision over Rochester (Michigan). She had five kills and a dig in a four-set win at Governors State (Illinois).

Wabash College sophomore Ethan Pine placed 35th individually at the Butler Twilight cross country meet.

Anderson junior tennis player Allison Newman started for the Ravens at both No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles in the team’s 6-3 loss to Taylor.

INDIAN CREEK

Evansville runner Tucker Dawson placed 70th individually as the Aces took part in the Belmont Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee. In the women’s race, Izzy Dawson finished 65th overall.

RONCALLI

The Trine men’s cross country team placed second at the Manchester Hokum Karem, with Whiteland resident Neil O’Brien part of the Thunder’s three-person squad.
