Local women selected to be Indy 500 princesses

Two Greenwood women have been selected to help promote the Indianapolis 500 and complete leadership programs as 500 Festival Princesses.

Justice Amick and Bailee Leathers were two of 33 women from across the state selected as princesses.

Each year, college-aged women are selected as 500 Festival Princesses and serve as ambassadors of the 500 Festival, their hometowns, and their colleges/universities.

Women selected will participate in the 500 Festival Leadership Development Program. Each princess also receives a scholarship.

500 Festival Princesses are involved with statewide outreach programs, including visits to hospitals, schools and various youth programs. Princesses will attend and volunteer at all 500 Festival events throughout the month of May, are present at various Indianapolis Motor Speedway functions, and participate in the pre-race ceremonies and Victory Circle celebration for the Indianapolis 500.

Both local women graduated from Center Grove High School. Amick is a senior at Ball State University majoring in telecommunications and journalism. Leathers is a sophomore at Indiana University majoring in nursing.
