Warriors edge Dragons

Brennan Neal scored 19 points and Carter Crowe and Isaiah Davis added 17 each as Whiteland pulled out a 63-62 home victory over New Palestine on Saturday.

Neal, Crowe and Davis each knocked down three 3-pointers for the Warriors (9-12), who were 11 of 28 from long range as a team.

Braves fend off Jets

Cooper Britt scored 14 points and Indian Creek held on after a hot start for a 56-49 home win over Hauser on Saturday evening.

The Braves (13-6) jumped out to a 19-6 lead after one quarter and were able to maintain the upper hand throughout.

Swimmers sweep HCAC meet

Franklin College’s women dominated the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference meet over the weekend, more than doubling the point total of runner-up Rose-Hulman, while the men pulled out their first league title by winning the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Claiming first-place finishes for the women on Saturday were Jessica Halsmer (200 backstroke), Courtnee Coffman (100 freestyle) and Cady Mehringer (200 butterfly). Victorious for the men were James Hone (200 backstroke) and Charlie Hall (200 fly).

Men’s hoop closes regular season with win

Franklin College kept its late-season hot streak going, improving to .500 in conference play with a 72-67 home win over Bluffton in its regular-season finale on Saturday.

The Grizzlies (11-14, 9-9 HCAC) head into this week’s league tournament having won seven of their last eight. Matt Krause led the way for Franklin with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Payton Mills also had a double-double (12 points, 10 boards).

Women’s basketball rolls in finale

Franklin College finished off its season in style, cruising to an 83-56 rout of Bluffton at the Spurlock Center on Saturday.

Bayleigh Walker led a balanced effort with 15 points for the Grizzlies (8-17, 6-12 HCAC), while Destinee Cross contributed 14.
