Reynolds shines in pair of St. Francis victories

St. Francis forward Jeffrey Reynolds scored 13 points, had seven rebounds and two assists in the Cougars’ 95-74 victory at Goshen.

The freshman, a former Greenwood player, then finished with 20 points, four boards and five assists in an 86-79 triumph at Bethel.

GREENWOOD

Taylor junior Hunter Smith finished second in the 5,000-meter run at the Crossroads League indoor track championships in a time of 15:22.54. Smith also placed fifth in the 3,000-meter run.

Wabash freshman Ethan Pine placed fourth in the 3,000-meter run in a personal record time of 8:56.02 at the DePauw Invitational.

IUPUI’s Holly Hoopingarner scored nine points and had five assists in a 64-36 win over Cleveland State.

FRANKLIN

Manchester’s Travis Murr competed in the Richard Small Invitational at Defiance, placing second of 23 runners in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.15 seconds. He was third in the 200 in 23.32 seconds.

Sam Barnett of Marian took part in the Crossroads League Championship at Taylor, finishing sixth of 30 competitors in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.76 seconds.

IUPUI freshman Josh Campbell posted the 11th-best time in the 3,000-meter run (9:22.11) and was sixth in the 5,000 (16:17.73).

J.T. Sargent represented Franklin College in the 1-mile run at the DePauw Invitational, taking 30th in a time of 5:27.96.

WHITELAND

Illinois freshman center Mackenzie Blazek had four points and a rebound in the team’s 78-68 defeat of visiting Wisconsin.

Sophomore forward Sidney Crowe had 12 points and three steals for St. Francis in a 72-36 win at Goshen. A 74-50 victory at Bethel included Crowe scoring nine points with two rebounds and a steal.

INDIAN CREEK

Freshman guard Addie Rund came off the bench to score nine points, grab five rebounds and dish out three assists in Franklin College’s 73-65 loss at Mount St. Joseph. Rund scored four points in both an 89-71 win at Manchester and 90-52 loss at Transylvania.

Sophomore guard Tim Abel scored six points and had two rebounds in Cincinnati Christian’s 98-94 victory over visiting Brescia (Kentucky).

Indiana Tech senior Dylan Phair had nine points, three rebounds and four assists in a 72-58 win at Aquinas. He led all scorers with 27 points in 90-73 defeat of Lourdes.

CENTER GROVE

University of Indianapolis freshman wrestler Gleason Mappes pinned his opponent at 174 pounds in the Greyhounds’ 38-8 defeat of Kentucky Wesleyan.

Lipscomb sophomore Grant Mason ran a time of 7.07 seconds to place seventh in the 60-meter dash at the Samford (Alabama) Invitational. He was 22nd in the 200 in 22.55 seconds.

Indiana senior Derek Grimmer placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 49.11 seconds in a home meet against Hoosier Hills.

Belmont junior Michael Benkert scored eight points and had a rebound and steal as the Bruins won at Morehead State, 96-86.

Lauren Rau scored nine points for Lipscomb, also grabbing four rebounds and having three assists in a 74-60 loss at Liberty.

Indiana State senior forward Regan Wentland had 14 points, seven boards, three assists and three steals in an 81-80 loss to Bradley. She followed with 13 points and three steals in a 78-70 loss at Illinois State.

Lewis guard Allison Utterback scored three points in a 97-54 win against Southern Indiana.

Purdue guard Cassidy Hardin was credited with an assist in the team’s 67-61 loss at Nebraska.

Senior guard Jessica Norris finished with 15 points, five assists and three steals for Holy Cross in a 64-59 loss to St. Francis (Illinois). She added 18 points and five assists in a 79-53 win against Trinity Lutheran.

DePauw guard Emma LeMasters had four points and three rebounds in an 85-55 victory at Ohio Wesleyan. She had a rebound and steal in a 58-50 win over Denison.

Davidson senior Tori Long lowered her personal best in the indoor 400-meter dash with a time of 57.91 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University. Long topped her own 500-meter school record in 1:14.35 and ran on the victorious 4×400 relay that set a new school indoor mark of 3:50.91.

Dayton sophomore Olivia Rassel set a new personal record in the indoor 200-meter dash with a time of 27.53 seconds at the SPIRE Invitational at Geneva, Ohio.

UIndy sophomore outfielder Hanna Burris went 2 for 3 at the plate as the Greyhounds downed Hillsdale, 10-3, at the Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida. Burris scored a run in the team’s 7-3 triumph over California (Pennsylvania).

Junior infielder Mandy Dallas went 2 for 3 at the plate for IUPUI in an 8-4 loss to Western Illinois at the Total Control Sports Invitational at Rosemont, Illinois. The Jaguars played five games, which included a total of five hits by junior first baseman Delainey Turner.
