Show choirs from Center Grove, Franklin scoop up awards

Show choirs from Center Grove High School sang and danced their way to top finishes at a weekend show choir competition.

Sound System, Debtones and Accents competed at Contest of Champions at Edgewood High School in Ellettsville.

The Debtones were named Grand Champion in the single gender division and received caption awards for Best Vocals and Best Choreography. Sound System was Grand Champion of the championship division and first runner-up in finals, receiving a caption award for Best Vocals. Accents competed in the preliminary competition.

Individual performers recognized were senior Ashlyn Glover, Best Performer for Sound System, junior Kiersten White, Best Performer for Debtones, and freshman Paige Northern, Best Performer for Accents.

Choirs from Franklin Community High School competed in Loveland, Ohio. Sensations placed second in the Women’s Division. Kaylin Barnett earned Best Performer.

The Heritage Singers placed third. Hannah Johnson earned Best Performer and won a scholarship to Show Choir Camps of America.
