Greenwood plans high school entryway project

The main entrance of Greenwood Community High School is getting a makeover to make it more secure improve its appearance.

The $304,634 upgrade will include two new walls with transparent material, new doors, a new canopy on the front of the entryway and large green lettering indicating the name of the school. The main entrance foyer will also be replaced.

The specifics of the security features are not being disclosed.

“The entry is in need of repairs and updates,” Assistant Superintendent Todd Pritchett said. “Visually, it will be better, it will give a more obvious entrance to the school.”

The district awarded the project to Indianapolis-based Boyle Construction Management in mid-December, Pritchett said.

The work will be paid for with money left over from 2015-16 construction bond funds. Pritchett said construction is scheduled to take place from May to July, when classes are not in session.
