Greenwood jewelry store robbed

As employees at a Greenwood jewelry store got ready to close on Thursday night, three men wearing face masks entered the store and ordered everyone to the ground.

The robbers shattered a display case with a sledge hammer and stole handfuls of diamonds and jewelry from Jared — The Galleria of Jewelry, located on County Line Road just north of the Greenwood Park Mall.

They were in the store for about a minute, Greenwood Police Assistant Chief Matt Fillenwarth said. The robbery occurred about 8:30 p.m.

No one was injured. Police are investigating.

Two men, one dressed entirely in black, including a face mask and gloves, and another wearing mostly black and a white face mask, entered the store. One man broke the glass while the other kept an eye on the employees and customers, Fillenwarth said. They both scooped up an undetermined amount of diamonds and other jewelry and ran out the same door they entered through.

The third man, wearing similar clothing, monitored the door, he said.

Witnesses say they sped off in a dark-colored SUV or station wagon, Fillenwarth said.

No one had been arrested as of Friday.

The Jared store on the north side of Indianapolis, 8520 Keystone Crossing, was robbed by three men on Sept. 24. That robbery also occurred about 8:30 p.m. One person was attacked and injured during that robbery, but there was no mention of guns or other weapons being used in either incident.
