Gross, Worland welcomed to key Franklin school positions

With the upcoming retirements of Franklin Schools Chief Financial Officer Jeff Mercer and Assistant Superintendent Deb Brown-Nally, the district has chosen Tina Gross and Brooke Worland to fill those respective positions.

Gross will be the first of the duo to join Franklin schools, as she will learn the position by working with Mercer from her first day on Jan. 7 until Mercer’s retirement on May 31.

She has been the vice chancellor at Ivy Tech Community College in Franklin and the executive director of finance at Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus, according to a news release.

“While Jeff Mercer leaves big shoes to fill, we are extremely excited for Tina to join our team,” Superintendent David Clendening said. “Her experiences in the financial world of education coupled with her strong presence in community engagement make her an excellent fit.”

Worland will join the district on March 5, and will be working with Brown-Nally until her retirement in June. She has been the assistant provost and dean of engaged learning, and also the dean of alumni and student engagement at Franklin College.

“Her experience in curriculum and instruction at the collegiate level will be a valuable asset,” Clendening said. “Brooke is not only knowledgeable in her field, but she is also community minded and we can’t wait for her to get started.”
