Norris leads Holy Cross to fifth straight win

Holy Cross (Indiana) senior Jessica Norris scored a game-high 19 points and also had four assists and three steals to lead the Saints to their fifth consecutive victory, a 57-55 triumph at ninth-ranked St. Francis (Illinois).

Norris, a Center Grove graduate, averages 14.6 points and 4.3 rebounds.

CENTER GROVE

Ball State junior swimmer Peighton Gilbert posted a personal record time in the 200 freestyle at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational.

Cincinnati senior swimmer Caroline Sheehan helped the Bearcats place second in the 400 freestyle relay at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational.

Franklin College swimmer Noah Tallman was part of the 800 freestyle relay that won at the Transylvania Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky. Tallman was also part of the second-place 400 medley relay.

Denver’s memorable volleyball season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Utah in the first round of the NCAA tournament in Provo, Utah. Sophomore libero Macy Carrabine recorded a team-high 12 digs to go along with five assists.

The college volleyball career of Ali Line came to a close with Northern Illinois’ loss to Cincinnati in the opening round of the NCAA tournament in Milwaukee. The Redbirds finished with a 25-8 record. Line, a senior middle blocker, had 11 kills, a block and two digs.

UAB men’s basketball player Anderson McCoy had two points and a rebound in a 67-57 win at Alabama A&M. The junior played seven minutes and was scoreless in a 73-67 victory over North Alabama.

Adrian sophomore guard Kas Oganowski had two points and a steal in his squad’s 63-50 home loss to Case Western Reserve.

Belmont guard Michael Benkert hit a 3-pointer and had two rebounds in the Bruins’ 100-92 loss at Green Bay. He followed with 12 points off the bench in a 76-74 win over crosstown rival Lipscomb.

DePauw guard Emma LeMasters grabbed four rebounds and scored two points in the Tigers’ 45-42 win at Kenyon. She had two points and a rebound in a 61-52 decision over Wittenberg.

Lipscomb guard Lauren Rau had 10 points, six assists and three steals in her team’s 70-58 loss at Austin Peay. In an 83-43 loss at Belmont, Rau finished with nine points, four assists and three steals.

Indiana State senior Regan Wentland scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Sycamores’ 64-59 home loss to IUPUI. She scored four points, had six boards and an assist at ISU’s 75-57 loss at Illinois.

Purdue freshman guard Cassidy Hardin scored six points, pulled down two rebounds and was credited with an assist in an 80-73 loss at Ohio.

Sophomore right tackle Clay Hadley was honored as offensive lineman of the year at the University of Indianapolis’ annual football banquet.

Marian sophomore linebacker Bailey Bennett was named to the second team All-MSFA Mideast League team. It’s the same honor Bennett received following his freshman campaign with the Knights.

GREENWOOD

Marian freshman wrestler Jacob Schrader won four of five matches to place sixth in the 165-pound division of the Little State Meet at the University of Indianapolis.

St. Francis freshman forward Jeffrey Reynolds came off the bench to score a career-best 13 points in the Cougars’ 92-64 loss at NAIA No. 5 Marian. Reynolds had four points, four rebounds and three blocks in the Cougars’ 85-71 upset of top-ranked Indiana Wesleyan.

Point guard Holly Hoopingarner scored four points and had two assists in IUPUI’s 53-40 home loss to Northern Iowa. The junior produced a 15-point effort in the Jaguars’ 64-59 victory at Indiana State.

WHITELAND

Indianapolis redshirt freshman offensive tackle Tarnjeet Singh was one of 16 Greyhounds named to the One-Play Warrior Club, a point-based system honoring the team’s top special teams players.

Sophomore forward Sidney Crowe finished with six points, two rebounds and a steal for St. Francis in its 64-58 victory at Marian. in a triple-overtime loss to Indiana Wesleyan, she produced 16 points, two rebounds and an assist

INDIAN CREEK

Indiana Tech basketball player Dylan Phair contributed eight points, five rebounds and a steal to his team’s 74-70 win at Lawrence Tech (Michigan).

Bethel freshman Jared DeHart came off the bench to score 13 points as the Pilots won at Grace, 96-88.
