Daily Journal staff reports

Eighteen local players were named to the Indiana Football Coaches Association’s 2018 All-State teams, including four who earned the highest honor — a spot on the Top 50 squad.

Three Center Grove players earned Top 50 recognition: sophomore running back Carson Steele, senior defensive lineman Brian Gaffney and senior punter P.J. Buck. They were joined on the team by Franklin senior linebacker Clayton Coll.

Representing the Trojans on the Class 6A Senior All-State team were offensive lineman A.J. Wiese, defensive lineman Lucas Hunter and defensive back Lucas Roehling. Freshman defensive lineman Caden Curry made the 6A Junior All-State team.

In Class 5A, three Whiteland players made the Senior All-State team: running back Jake Perry, defensive lineman Alex Reed and defensive back Trevor Larence. The Warriors also had three players (Marcus Havens, A.J. Beil and Jacob Schultz) make Junior All-State.

Roncalli’s John Harris and Brandon Berger were also Senior All-State picks in Class 5A.

Greenwood linebacker Bryce Taylor made the Senior All-State team in Class 4A, while Indian Creek senior Isaiah Lacey made the Class 3A team as a punter.
