Police search for man involved in October burglary, fraud

Police are searching for a man they suspect was involved in an October burglary, vehicle theft and fraud.

Sheriff Doug Cox says they are looking for Robert Eugene Thomas IV, 23, of 435 Saint Paul St., Indianapolis. He is wanted for fraud, a level 6 felony that carries a sentence of up to 2.5 years in prison.

Detectives said Thomas used a debit card stolen from a house in Franklin on Oct. 22. Other debit and credit cards and a car were also stolen from the property. Thomas used the card at a Greenwood department store to buy two prepaid credit cards totaling $210.88, according to court documents. Surveillance video shows Thomas making that purchase, court documents said.

A woman who is seen in the videos told police she and Thomas helped Brandon Bishop steal from the home in Franklin, then drove to the store where Thomas bought the prepaid cards. She said they sold the prepaid cards to family members.

Bishop has already been arrested. The stolen car has been located.

Anyone with information about Thomas is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip-line at 317-346-4654.
