Students sew stockings for soldiers

A group of local students have sewn stockings together to bring holiday cheer to soldiers.

The Franklin Community High School chapter of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America hosted the fall district meeting of the club, where they sewed holiday stockings for soldiers.

Sixty students from multiple central Indiana schools, including Center Grove High School and Indian Creek High School spent the meeting making 750 stockings. Club members from Franklin also independently made 95 stockings.

Each stocking will be sent to Hero Family Outreach and the Hillcrest Angels in Indianapolis, who will fill the stockings then mail them to Indiana soldiers who are deployed all over the world. Soldiers based at Camp Atterbury will also receive some of the stockings.

The group has made more than 3,000 stockings since the project started five years ago.
