Phair helps Indiana Tech get off to fast start

Indiana Tech men’s basketball player Dylan Phair scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished three assists in an 87-75 win over No. 16 St. Francis.

In the Warriors’ first seven games, Phair, the former Indian Creek guard, averaged 13 points and 2.8 rebounds.

INDIAN CREEK

Bethel freshman guard Jared DeHart scored seven points and had five rebounds in the No. 23 Pilots defeated Madonna, 91-67.

Trine defensive back James Starks had three tackles and broke up a pass in the Thunder’s 48-18 triumph at Kalamazoo. Trine finished the regular season with a 10-0 record.

Evansville sophomore Izzy Dawson placed 220th individually at the NCAA Great Lakes District cross country Regional in Terre Haute.

FRANKLIN

Junior Blaine Conners placed 54th for Franklin College at the Great Lakes cross country regional to lead all Grizzlies’ men’s competitors. Conners finished the 8k event in a time of 26 minutes, 19.2 seconds.

University of Indianapolis senior D.J. Smith picked up fifth place in the elite division 125-pound weight class to open the season at Maryville’s Kaufman Brand Bayly Open.

GREENWOOD

Franklin College sophomore Krista Robinson was the top finisher for her team at the Great Lakes cross country regional. Robinson placed 160th overall in the 6k race a time of 25 minutes, 34 seconds.

Wabash freshman Ethan Pine placed 90th in a time of 26:44.3 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Shelbyville.

Junior receiver Jackson Daugherty had three catches for 34 yards and a touchdown in Hanover’s 23-20 win over Franklin College in the annual Victory Bell game. Daugherty also returned a punt for 13 yards.

Wabash senior Tanner Skeel returned a kickoff for 12 yards in the Little Giants’ 24-17 victory over DePauw.

St. Francis basketball player Jeffrey Reynolds scored two points and grabbed a rebound off the bench in an 87-75 loss at Indiana Tech.

Mount Mary point guard Brooke Uebersetzig led her team with five points in a loss at Franklin College. She also had three steals.

CENTER GROVE

Denver sophomore volleyball player Macy Carrabine had seven digs and three assists as the Pioneers improved to 26-1 with a 3-0 sweep at Purdue Fort Wayne.

Middle Tennessee setter Taylor Hammill finished with 37 assists and five digs in her team’s 3-1 loss at Florida Atlantic.

SIU-Edwardsville freshman Ellen LeMasters returned to the lineup after a three-week absence and contributed a total of 11 kills against Austin Peay and Murray State.

Illinois State volleyball took a 24-5 record into Friday’s match after defeating Valparaiso, 3-1, behind six kills and three digs from senior middle blocker Ali Line.

The second-ranked Marian football squad completed a 10-0 regular season with a 58-14 victory over Lindenwood University-Belleville. Sophomore linebacker Bailey Bennett had five tackles for the Knights.

UIndy capped a 9-1 regular season by downing Hillsdale, 34-24, with safety Connor Steeb supplying four tackles in the win.

Indiana State running back Titus McCoy rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Sycamores to a 28-23 win over No. 22 Illinois State.

Taylor freshman defensive back Tyler Watson made three tackles and broke up a pass in the Spartans’ 21-12 loss at Missouri Baptist. Teammate Sam Bolin finished with two tackles.

Stanford defensive end Jovan Swann had two tackles in his team’s 48-17 victory over Oregon State.

Vanderbilt sophomore defensive end Cameron Tidd finished with two tackles in a 33-28 loss at Missouri.

Franklin College swimmer Noah Tallman helped the Grizzlies win the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3 minutes, 16.09 seconds in a home meet against Centre and Manchester.

UIndy freshman wrestler Gleason Mappes won all four of his matches in the amateur 174-pound class at Maryville’s Kaufman Brand Bayly Open.

Purdue freshman guard Cassidy Hardin came off the bench and collected three assists and two rebounds in a 66-65 defeat of Harvard.

Lipscomb’s women’s basketball team opened the season with a 64-62 victory against Tennessee State as point guard Lauren Rau had two points, two rebounds and an assist. In a 68-26 loss at Clemson, Rau had two points, a steal and assist.

Indiana State senior Regan Wentland had four points, three boards and two steals in a 60-56 victory at St. Louis.

Franklin College freshman Amy Davis scored two points and had two assists in the Grizzlies’ 92-16 romp over Mount Mary to open the season.

Belmont senior Michael Benkert had two points, a rebound and an assist in the Bruins’ 100-89 defeat of Illinois State to open the season. He had three points, a rebound and an assist in a 92-73 victory over Middle Tennessee.

Indiana Wesleyan guard Trevor Harrell scored four points and a steal off the bench in a 102-82 win over Grace Christian.

Adrian guard Kas Oganowski finished with three points, three rebounds and two assists in a 94-82 season-opening win against Defiance.

WHITELAND

Illinois freshman Mackenzie Blazek finished with five points, four rebounds and three blocked shots in her team’s 73-54 decision over Valparaiso.

RONCALLI

DePauw junior receiver Will Harris made five catches for 54 yards in the Tigers’ 24-17 loss at Wabash in the Monon Bell game.
