Wood carving enthusiasts from all across the state and Cincinnati will be in Franklin this weekend showing off what they can create with a few carving tools and a hunk of wood.
The Woodcarving Magic Show and Sale will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Franklin Cultural Arts and Recreation Center, 396 Branigin Blvd. The event is a joint venture between the Franklin Chipmates, Circle City Carvers of Indianapolis and Hoosier Carvers of Columbus.
People can vote for their favorite creation from 12:30 to 3:45 p.m.
The 12th annual event started when Edwin McClure, a wood carver, asked officials at the Franklin Parks Department if he could teach a woodcarving class. After one year of classes, a woodcarving show came to Franklin.
