Carrabine part of fast start for Denver volleyball

Sophomore libero Macy Carrabine finished with 27 digs, three assists and two services aces as the Denver volleyball team won in four sets at North Dakota.

The former Center Grove player led the 16-1 Pioneers in digs with 138 entering their match on Friday against IPFW.

CENTER GROVE

Freshman Noah Gillard tied for 42nd individually with a score of 70-68-76—214 to help the Illinois men’s golf team win the Fighting Irish Classic hosted by Notre Dame.

Indiana sophomore golfer Ethan Shepherd tied for 20th at the Maridoe Intercollegiate outside of Dallas with a score of 76-73—149. Shepherd’s score was lowest among Hoosiers golfers.

Junior Jackson Williams carded a 1-over-par score of 74-71—145 to help Franklin College men’s golf finish fifth out of eight teams at the Stateline Shootout in Oxford, Ohio.

Cincinnati freshman golfer Sam Jean placed 48th overall as the Bearcats finished seventh as a team at the Intercollegiate at the Grove in College Grove, Tennessee.

Sophomore forward Kelli Hippenmeyer picked up an assist for St. Leo University (Florida) women’s soccer in a 2-2 tie against Lynn.

Middle Tennessee junior setter Taylor Hammill finished with 36 assists and six digs in the Mocs’ 3-1 volleyball loss to Western Kentucky.

Middle blocker Ali Line helped lead Illinois State volleyball to a 3-0 sweep of Drake with her 11 kills, five digs and four blocks.

Taylor freshman safety Tyler Watson and sophomore safety Sam Bolin recorded five and four tackles, respectively, in the Spartans’ 40-13 loss at No. 23 Siena Heights. Freshman defensive tackle Brad Boswell was credited with a tackle for Taylor.

Sophomore safety Connor Steeb had four solo tackles and five overall for the University of Indianapolis in its 24-17 triumph at Missouri S&T. Sophomore Clay Hadley started at offensive tackle for the Greyhounds.

Stanford defensive end Jovan Swann had three tackles in a 40-21 loss at Utah.

Sophomore running back Titus McCoy finished with two carries for 11 yards in Indiana State’s 54-51 overtime loss at No. 3 South Dakota State.

Junior receiver Joey Siderewicz had two receptions for 23 yards for Franklin College in its 55-28 victory at Defiance.

Sophomore linebacker Bailey Bennett had two tackles for third-ranked Marian in the Knights’ 52-0 shutout of No. 25 St. Ambrose.

Defensive end Cameron Tidd had two tackles for Vanderbilt’s football team in its 41-13 loss at second-ranked Georgia.

Western Illinois junior fullback Max Norris carried the ball three times for nine yards in a 33-16 loss at Illinois State.

WHITELAND

Junior midfielder Jordan Thomas scored both goals for the Franklin College men’s soccer team in its 2-1 win at Bluffton.

Indiana Wesleyan junior Jared Williams finished in fifth place individually as the 10th-ranked Wildcats won the 14-team Bethel cross country Invitational. Williams’ time was 26:00.0.

GREENWOOD

Junior Hunter Smith finished in sixth place for Taylor men’s cross country at the Bethel Invitational in a time of 26 minutes, 4 seconds. The Spartans placed second only to Indiana Wesleyan among 14 teams competing.

Hanover junior receiver Jackson Daugherty made six catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in the team’s 83-17 romp over visiting Earlham.

FRANKLIN

Franklin College freshman lineman Manny Cheam had two tackles for the Grizzlies in a 55-28 win at Defiance.

Senior Jacob Hash shot his best round of the season for the Franklin College men’s golf team with a 5-over-par 72-77—149 at the Stateline Shootout in Oxford, Ohio.

Freshman middle blocker Alyvia Sundheimer led Trine in kills with 11 in a four-set loss to Hope. In the team’s five-set victory at Kalamazoo, she had six kills and a dig.

Abby Sewell led Franklin College volleyball in its loss at Rose-Hulman with a team-high 11 kills and 10 digs.

Vincennes freshman golfer Matt Jordan shot a 73-80—153 to help his team place fourth at the Wabash Fall Classic.

Florida College freshman Caleb McCort placed 81st of 139 runners at the Disney Cross cross country Classic.

Marian sophomore Noah Roberts teamed with Alex Wittenbaum for a win at No. 3 doubles as the Knights won the Crossroads League tournament with a 5-3 decision over Indiana Wesleyan.

INDIAN CREEK

Evansville sophomore Izzy Dawson placed 39th at the Fast Cats Classic in Owensboro, Kentucky, in a time of 21:23.

Senior cornerback James Starks had for tackles for the Trine football team in a 52-24 victory over visiting Alma.
