Earlywood Education Center student brings knife to school

An Earlywood Education Center student was arrested after police said he brought a knife to the school and swung it at a teacher.

A teacher reported at 10:24 a.m. Wednesday that the student brought a knife into the school at 500 Earlywood Drive in Franklin, according to a report from the Franklin Police Department.

The student swung the knife at the teacher when the teacher attempted to take the knife. The teacher was not hurt and students were evacuated from the classroom, according to a report from the Franklin Police Department.

A police officer asked for the knife and the student attempted to conceal the knife by sitting on it. The knife had a 6 1/2-inch blade, the report said.

The student was taken to the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center.Â
