Local marching bands compete at Ben Davis

Four local marching bands traveled to Ben Davis High School for a marching band invitational during the weekend, where two of them snagged the top spot in their classes.

Both Center Grove High School and Greenwood Community High School marching bands earned first place in their class at the event on Saturday. Center Grove competed in Class A. Greenwood won in Class B.

Greenwood also earned awards for Best General Effect and Best Visual. Center Grove snagged awards for Best Music, Visual, General Effect, Color Guard and Percussion.

Indian Creek earned second in Class C, and also earned a caption award for Best General Effect. The Blue Regiment at Franklin Community High School snagged fourth in Class B.

The Marching Warriors of Whiteland Community High School did not compete.

All of the local marching bands are staying close this weekend, with Indian Creek, Franklin and Greenwood competing in Center Grove’s Cavalcade of Champions. Center Grove will march in exhibition at its own event. Whiteland is hosting an Indiana State School Music Association open invitational at their school.
