One killed in Greenwood accident

A passenger was killed and the driver critically injured when a vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree on Saturday night in Greenwood, police said.

The accident happened on Fry Road near Northwest Park, between State Road 135 and U.S. 31, according to a Greenwood police report.

Police were called shortly after 10 p.m. The passenger in the vehicle was deceased, and the driver was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, Greenwood police Assistant Chief Matt Fillenwarth said.

Police are investigating.
